Liz Shabaker, Principal & COO

Last month I attended the Schwab Impact Conference in San Diego, an invitation-only industry conference, where advisors came together with influential presenters, exhibitors and subject-matter experts to learn about and collaborate on key issues and best practices.

One of the most fascinating and informative sessions was led by Bill McManus of Hartford Funds, whose topic was “MIT AgeLab Research: Five Ways Technology Will Change the Way We Age.”

Bill explained how we can leverage technology to live fuller lives as we age, especially for the next generation of retirees. How do you add life to longer lives? As people live longer and spend more time in retirement, the challenge will be to get more out of those years. How do you find a rewarding second career? How do you stay close to friends and family? How do you maintain independence and mobility? How do you embrace new experiences?

At Versant, we know that longevity advice goes beyond investment and planning alone. Please take the time to click on and read this valuable article and worksheet,  created by MIT AgeLab, and learn about a new array of devices and services that will make it easier to work, stay healthy, live at home and remain connected to friends and family as we age. As Betty Friedan said, “Aging is not lost youth, but a new stage of opportunity and strength.”
